The Bennington Center for the Arts boasts seven large galleries which are home to temporary exhibitions by many of the finest representational artists from around the country, as well as an extensive collection of wildlife art, paintings by Eric Sloane and detailed wooden bird carvings by Floyd Scholz. In addition, The Bennington Center for the Arts houses a covered bridge museum, a collection of Native American artifacts and art works, studio space, and a lovely 320 seat theater equipped with a world class Fazioli piano.

Pianists Christopher Lewis and Yoshiko Sato continue their concert series devoted to performances of the complete Piano Sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven. The performances are taking place at Bennington College and at venues in the surrounding Bennington community. This concert at BCA will be the 6th of the series which began a tour in the fall of 2015.

Pianists Christopher Lewis and Yoshiko Sato continue their concert series devoted to performances of the complete Piano Sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven. The performances are taking place at Bennington College and at venues in the surrounding Bennington community. This concert at BCA will be the 6th of the series. 

Yoshiko Sato studied in Keio University in Tokyo, at The Hartt School of Music in Connecticut, and École Normale de Musique de Paris in France. She has won numerous prizes in several competitions. She has given recitals in Japan, the United States, France, and Switzerland and has appeared as soloist with the Manchester Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra de Cambra de L’Emporda in Spain, the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, and with the Sage City Symphony. In 2009, Sato and tenor Thomas Bogdan released a recording of Hungarian folk song settings by Bartok and Kodaly. Sato’s recordings of Allen Shawn’s Childhood Scenes, and Nocturne for Y can be heard on CDs from Albany Records. In 2014, Sato performed Childhood Scenes and Shawn’s Jazz Prelude No. 2 for the Antonia Franceschi Dance Company at the Ailey Center in New York City and in performances on the island of Malta.  Sato has been a piano accompanist at Bennington College since 1999.

Christopher Lewis has taught and performed throughout the United States, Italy, and British Columbia. He has given concerts in major venues such as Carnegie, Weill, and Alice Tully Halls (New York); Orchestra Hall (Detroit); Empire State Performing Arts Center (Albany, New York); Southern Vermont Arts Center (Manchester, Vermont); and Bennington Center for the Arts. He is a prizewinner of the American National Chopin Competition and the New York Leschetizky Society. Lewis has recordings on the Newport Classics label. He has held faculty positions at New York University as well as several private schools in New York City and at SUNY Purchase. Lewis has been an instructor at Bennington College since 2010.
