"When we embrace all that life has for us that usually means change. My growth as an artist has been directly affected by moving out west several years ago. My passion for the west changed me and left an indelible mark on who I am and all that I do. The most profound influence can be seen in my current subject matter, which includes western and pioneer themes. I enjoy visiting historic Rock Ledge Ranch in Colorado where docents volunteer their time to present the history of the early settlers. "Indigo" was inspired by one of these volunteers. Although just a young girl, there was an understanding of history and a purpose in her movements that overflowed with beauty and grace. I chose to capture her in this quiet moment keeping both the composition and color scheme simple to echo the simplicity of pioneer life."
